NEW HAVEN POLICE OFFICERS IN COOPERATION WITH URBAN VIOLENCE TASKFORCE MAKE 3 ARRESTS & TAKE GUNS OFF OF THE STREET
(9/19/2007) NEW HAVEN- Tuesday evening, members of the Urban Violence Task Force patrolled the Franklin Street Housing Complex in response to numerous complaints from residents of narcotics dealing and illegal weapon concerns. Officers were able to catch a narcotics transaction in action and arrested 21-year-old Justin Parker. Parker attempted to flee the scene but officers quickly caught up with him in an apartment at 194 Franklin Street. Members of the task force located firearms and ammunition inside the apartment, as well as drug paraphernalia. Parker was arrested for numerous weapon and narcotic charges.
After noticing suspicious activity at 540 Ella Grasso Blvd., a New Haven Police officer helped to identify the location of 56-year-old Robert London, a New London resident with outstanding warrants in Ansonia. The Urban Violence Task Force was involved in the incident at 540 Ella Grasso Blvd. which led to London’s arrest for numerous weapons charges and the outstanding Ansonia warrant.
Officers responded to the area of Davenport Avenue and Stevens Street Tuesday on a report of gunfire. Officers had descriptions from witnesses of who the individuals were who were responsible for the unlawful discharge. After patrolling the area officers located the suspects and were able to make an arrest. Members of the Urban Violence Task Force assisted the patrol division in the investigation and subsequently, 23-year-old Kevin Hill of New Haven was arrested for numerous weapons charges.
